Internationally and nationally, there is a new emerging interest in those who teach novice teachers, namely teacher educators and school mentors. Within the specific context of mathematics classrooms, subject specific mentoring has not received much attention neither in the UK nor internationally. Drawing on ‘teacher educator-mentor-novice teachers’ conversations about novices’ lessons from two UK and two Chinese lessons, we aim to examine content and forms of teacher educator-mentor-novice teacher collaborative reflections about teaching, as such interactions are crucial to the development of mentors and novice teachers’ subject-specific professional knowledge.
